Greetings from India!
I hope you had a good holiday season and a happy beginning of the New Year.
I meant to write this Newsletter three weeks ago but we have been busy with the daily project activities and the new projects that we started this year. And time simply slipped by.
We had a very cold winter spell this year in this part of India. It started a little earlier this year, about December 15, 2011 and lasted through the middle of January. This is certainly a short winter by the Minnesota standard but for this region, it was a long one. We didn’t see the Sun much in that period and the wind blew strong. Apparently, the news about the cold weather in Delhi and Varanasi areas was on the Internet. My brother, who lives in Maryland, read the news and called me on the phone to check if we were alright. I told him that I was okay because I had good winter clothes. But there are plenty of folks in the villages here, who don’t have warm clothes. And they were miserable during the cold spell. It is still cold here but not miserably cold.
IVC this year again distributed blankets to the poor. Attached are photographs of the occasion. Those who received the blankets and village elders in attendance thanked IVC for the generosity. And, in turn, I thank all IVC supporters whose generous donations have allowed us to help the poor in these villages of India. Thank you so much. We couldn’t do this without your support.
It is a little belated but this is my first opportunity to wish you a very happy and prosperous 2012.
